Time-Off & Special Times

We've had some time-off just recently.

We enjoyed the flowers, trains, and butterflies.

I never knew there were so many different types of leaves out there that are just waiting to be used as a quilting pattern.  I love digital cameras--I can capture so many quilt designs!

Special times with family and just being silly together are what life's all about.

August Friday Night Sew In Results

This is a lap quilt that I am working on for a gift.  The colors match my daughter-in-law's rug and modern art painting in their living room.

I thought that the circle theme would complement the decor that they already have.  Now I have to get it finished before Christmas.

Hope you're enjoying the last days of summer.

We should be harvesting our corn and beans by the end of September or early October.

Finished Bluebird Wall Hanging, Teaching Em, & Mom's Quilt Top

Here's the finished wall quilt!

I'm so happy that it's done early so I don't have to rush around next month to finish it.

What do you do on a Saturday?

Mom and I helped teach my sister, Emily, to machine quilt using a walking foot.

Her machine started out real slow and unsure, but after a few rows Em and her  machine had all the confidence in the world to get the job done.

I also helped Mom measure the size of her Shop Hop Quilt that she made last year so she can get the backing ready.  Each Quilt Shop had a block pattern.

I'm looking forward to seeing this quilt when it's all finished!

Making Your Thread Painting More Realistic & Wood County 4-H Quilt Square Trail

I've been working on this small wall hanging for a September wedding gift.
As I was working on this project, I realized that there was something wrong.  Look at the stitching close--my bird pretty boring and stiff!  The feathers on a bird do not go in an up and down direction in real life.  I decided to go back over my stitching curving my lines, which made all the difference in the world!  The finished project will be posted soon!

 Below is a really neat idea that my sister's extension office came up with to bring on more 4H awareness in their area.

 

You can read more about it at Jenny's blog.  These painted quilt blocks will be attached to Wood County barns for all to enjoy.  When the blocks are all done, I want to take a country drive and enjoy!

too many activities to attend.

Just stop a few moments and enjoy the beauty around us.

I had to pick up my husband at his place of work and I surprised him with Chinese takeout!

We ate at a park and enjoyed walking a trail.  It's nice to do something different for a change :)
